When I’m not documenting love stories, this is where I’ll be.

I first picked up a camera back in 2016 with the goal of photographing the Milky Way on backpacking trips through Oregon, where I used to live. What started as a love for capturing nature’s beauty slowly turned into something deeper. I moved to Colorado to work as a backpacking guide for a wilderness therapy program, where I spent my days helping adolescents reconnect with themselves through nature—alongside a team of mental health professionals. That experience taught me so much about presence, connection, and the quiet strength in vulnerability—lessons I carry into every wedding I photograph.

At one point, some of my fellow guides—who happened to be in a band—started playing weddings and asked if I’d come along to photograph and film their performances in order to make their website look more professional. That summer opened a new door. I quickly realized how special weddings are to document: the energy, the joy, the emotion, the people. One thing led to another, and before long, I had launched my own wedding photography business right here in the place I love most.

Now, I get to travel, connect with incredible people, and document their most meaningful moments in some of the most breathtaking outdoor settings imaginable. It’s more than a job—it’s a deep honor, and I don’t take it lightly.

About Me

My Style + Approach

My photography + films are documentary-driven, earthy, and intentional—focused on capturing real moments as they naturally unfold. Almost every couple I work with tells me upfront that they feel awkward in front of the camera, and honestly, I get it. That’s why I guide you with simple prompts that create real connection between you two—nothing stiff or overly posed, just genuine interaction that feels like you. My approach is laid-back and adventurous, allowing you to relax, be present, and enjoy the day while I document the emotion and energy in a way that feels honest, artful, and deeply personal.

Me + my art, as experienced by others.

“Wow! John really made our wedding day so special! The photos are absolutely stunning and his style is exactly what we were looking for. He captured the emotions running in the moment so well. We were nervous about the whole process, but John made it feel like photos were an extension of the wedding celebration. He fostered such a thoughtful and present atmosphere with us. His direction felt like permission to enjoy our time together. Could not recommend him more! Thank you, John, for your kindness, professionalism, and artistry!”

“John is incredible! We absolutely loved working with him. We are not people who love having our photo taken, but he made us feel so calm and comfortable being ourselves. Everything felt very natural and smooth, like there wasn't even a photographer present. He is so kind and genuine, a great person to work with. The photos turned out better than I could have imagined, truly beautiful. Thank you so much John!”

“I first discovered John’s work on social media and knew instantly that I wanted him to document my wedding day. He shot our engagement photos this fall, and even though it was our first time meeting in person, he made us feel completely at ease. My fiancé and I are typically a little awkward in front of the camera, but John worked his magic and made us look natural in front of the camera! His easygoing personality, professionalism, and prompt communication have made the entire process seamless. I can’t wait to see the magic he creates for our wedding day!”
